Soul Palace – Historic City Mansion in Palma’s Calatrava District

Soul Palace – Historic City Mansion in Palma’s Calatrava District

Four centuries of history. Reimagined for the future.

Soul Palace is a historic, listed city mansion in the Calatrava district of Palma de Mallorca, just a few minutes’ walk from La Seu Cathedral. The building is undergoing a complete renovation based on a building permit that has been granted and will be delivered turnkey. The historic structure will be preserved; the building services and finishes will meet the standards of a new construction. A vacation rental license (ETV) has been obtained.

A house that preserves its history

Soul Palace is located on a quiet side street in the Calatrava neighborhood, the oldest and most compact part of Palma’s Old Town. It is part of the city’s protected architectural heritage: traces of its Gothic origins and Baroque renovations in the 19th and 20th centuries are still visible today.

The historic structural elements will be preserved—the medieval walls, the patio, and the coffered ceilings with polychrome decorations and Kufic script. These are historically protected features that can now be found in only a few houses in Palma. Everything else will be rebuilt.

Space for Individual Lifestyles

The ground floor, mezzanine, two upper floors, and the rooftop terrace are spread across approximately 395 m² of living and usable space. Up to five bedrooms with en suite bathrooms are possible; the floor plan can be customized upon consultation—ranging from a spacious living area for two to a layout designed for a family and guests.

The floor plan includes a spacious living and dining area with an open-concept designer kitchen, a master suite with a walk-in closet, en suite bathroom, and private balcony, as well as a separate studio apartment that can be used as a guest unit or a granny flat. An indoor spa pool, patio, private garage, and passenger elevator serving all levels round out the home.

Approximately 57 m² of terraces on three levels extend the living spaces outward. From the rooftop terrace, a sweeping panoramic view opens up over the rooftops of Calatrava, to La Seu Cathedral, the Castell de Bellver, and all the way to the Bay of Palma.

The quietest neighborhood in the Old Town

Calatrava is located in the eastern part of the Old Town, just behind La Seu Cathedral and the Almudaina Palace. Narrow, winding alleys, solid stone facades, and virtually no through traffic characterize the quietest and, at the same time, most historic part of the historic center. Just a few steps away are the Arab Baths (Banys Àrabs), one of the few surviving examples of Islamic architecture in Mallorca.

Calatrava has changed noticeably in recent years. Historic buildings have been restored, and boutique hotels, restaurants, and galleries have opened up in the area without altering the neighborhood’s character. The result is one of Palma’s most sought-after residential areas—with a correspondingly limited supply.

A property like Soul Palace practically never comes on the market in this location. Calatrava's historic built environment leaves little room for new, large lots.

Historic character. Contemporary refinement.

The renovation project is being carried out by a construction company specializing in historic buildings—an essential requirement for a building of this age and protected status. The building is undergoing a complete renovation down to its load-bearing structure; all new elements will be designed to match the existing structure. The building permit has been granted, and construction can begin shortly.

Building services, climate control, and security systems meet the standards of a contemporary residence and are discreetly integrated so that the historic architecture remains the focal point. Features include an air-to-water heat pump with underfloor heating, individually controllable air conditioning, KNX building automation, a solar power system, an alarm system, and video surveillance.

A custom-built kitchen featuring Miele or Gaggenau appliances, Gris Zarci natural stone, brushed oak floors in the bedrooms, and lime plaster and natural stone in the historic sections of the home carry this commitment to excellence through to the finest details. The heated indoor spa pool uses saltwater electrolysis; an electric vehicle charging station is provided in the private garage.
